Usually I get up at 7:30 a.m., but not this week as my
roommate is on holiday and I have to take care of her dog Spike. Spike really
likes getting up at 6:30 a.m. so I do not even need to set an alarm. Loud
barking wakes me up and placing the duvet covers over my ears does not help at
all. I get out of bed, open the door and here he is: A black Labrador, with unusually
big and cute eyes, waving his tail as fast as he can. From that moment on, he
follows me wherever I am going. Into the bathroom, outside the flat to get the
newspaper, into the kitchen where I am having breakfast and if it was up to
him, he would even join my courses at university from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m.
At 11:50 a.m. I come home from university and guess who is already waiting
for me at the entrance door. It’s Spike, almost running me over when I enter
the flat. After calming Spike down, I immediately start doing some homework and study for exams so I can afterwards
start the fun part of the day: meeting friends, doing sports, playing frisbee in
the park or just watching TV. Whatever it is, Spike does not miss a second of
it :)
